Office files Opening slowly

Problem: After installing Office 2007 or Office 2003 Compatibility Patch Office files open slowly.

Cause: Office 2007 file formating changed and is using DDE configuration to open DOC, XLS, PPT file type.

Resolution: Turn off DDE when opening the files.

1. In windows explorer, go to Tools > Folder Options. Under the File Types tab, select the Office application extention type (.DOC, .XLS, .PPT) and hit advanced select OPEN

2. Click edit at the end of the string under application to perform action,
add "%1" including quotemarks, and uncheck the use DDE box.

3. Click okay on all of the open dialog boxes.

4. Then repeat for each office file type.

Problem: You get an email with a picture or image but it is not downloaded or showing in the message.



Quick Solution:
1. Locate the Outlook Temporary Items folder by opening the Registry and locating HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Security\OutlookSecureTempFolder


2. Navigate to the value of this Key. It should be something like: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK3D\ where OLK3D is some randomly generated string that always starts with OLK


3. Quit Outlook


4. Delete the contents of the folder


5. Launch Outlook
